甘氨酸對于許多生物反應起到非常關鍵的作用,但是通常合成甘氨酸需要復雜的步驟或者毒性試劑。
有鑒于此,中國科學院化學所韓布興院士、康欣晨研究員等報道草酸和硝酸鹽/氮氧化物的電化學還原偶聯反應生成甘氨酸,其使用單原子Fe-N-C作為催化劑,在-1.0 V的電壓生成甘氨酸的選擇性達到70.7 %。
